STEEL IRON DECKING

Subtitle Text

STEEL IRON DECKING

The price of a deck varies significantly based on the specifications of the project, but for a 300-square-foot deck with steps, expect a $2,500 to $5,000 price difference between steel and pressure-treated wood.

A minimum of 1-1/2″ of end bearing should be provided for metal roof decking or metal floor decking. If there is less than 1-1/2″ of bearing, additional fastening should be provided, and the deck end load capacity should be checked. Steel deck corrosion is affected by three main variables – liquid moisture, oxygen, and temperature. Steel deck corrosion is a result of prolonged exposure to a combination of these, most often leaks that were not remedied for an extended period of time and then made worse by exposure to the elements. Composite metal decking is perfect for use in both floor and roof construction because it has a high strength-to-weight ratio. Other advantages of metal deck include uniform quality, proven durability including excellent fire performance. Industry-leading steel frames and bracket systems can support up to 200 PSF for joists spaced at 12 inches and 16 inches, which is well beyond the 50 PSF average.  We charge $12,000.00 per floor. And extra with multiple units per floor.

Am-cats provides a crew to install your Cat Iron multi-decking system to Approved plans.

The manner in which you end up fastening the metal deck to the structural framing will typically depend on what the engineer has specified in the plans.
