INSTALLING WINDOW & DOOR LENTILS
Am-Cat’s Team Mansory preferred licensed vendors will perform Lentil replacement at a cost per Lentil and size for $750-$1500 an opening based on the number of bricks and length of lentil that need replacement.
Am-cats Team Masonry will fit lintels to every window and door, In new build properties. Under the current regulations, a lintel must be fitted to any brand-new buildings. The lintel material used will depend on the structure of your property. Timber-framed buildings need load-bearing support, and therefore you may need additional lintel support. A lintel or I-beam is a piece of steel that spans an opening (e.g., a door or window) and supports the masonry above it. To install a new lintel, determine the size of the structural opening and add a minimum of 150mm to each end. Especially when dealing with brick and concrete block walls, the installation of a lintel is required before opening the load-bearing wall. When scoping out the project, we take notice of the above area of the lintel, install anchors, and use anchors props to support the wall as you remove masonry for the lintel. 1ST Am-cat Use a hammer and chisel to remove the mortar around the bricks to be removed. Bedded on Mortar, we make sure the Lintel is Level, we allow Mortar to Cure Before Applying Loads, we then lay Bricks on Both Sides, by Install a Damp Proof Course, if Necessary, when installing Lintels. Lintels should be installed with a minimum end bearing of 150mm at each end and should be leveled and fully bedded on bricklaying mortar. Masonry may overhang the supporting lintel by a maximum of 25mm. Wall ties should be used in accordance with BS 5628 and current Building Regulations. The height between the floor level and the lintel level is referred to as lintel height. As per the building regulations, the preferable lintel height adopted for the residential building is 7′ (2.1 m ) and for the commercial buildings is 7’6”(2.3 m). As standard our steel lintels increase in length by 150mm, the two values represent the length of the lintel that the values in that column relate to. If it is 600 | 1200 it means the load span details can be applied to any lintel between 600mm and 1200mm
