INTERNAL WOODED SOFFITS

Internal Wooden soffits is basically a box framed with wood and covered with a wallboard that surrounds existing ductwork, piping, or beams. As a remodeler, I often need to build soffits in basements or kitchens to hide items that are not easily moved and are lower than the finished ceiling. A soffit is an element commonly found on a ceiling that is built to conceal pipes/ducts/wires/beams, etc. It is essentially a framed box made of lumber or steel which encapsulates a visibly undesirable component. A soffit will later receive finished materials like drywall or plaster.
